FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Whether you are a beginner in the world of driving or an experienced driver in search of a refresher course, we understand you may have questions.

This is why we have compiled some of the most frequent questions to ease your confusion.

Of course! In fact, we prefer if you do not have any prior driving experience so that we can lead you from the basic rules to driving like a pro soon enough.

Our driving instructors tailor their teaching style and plan to your pace and learning capabilities.

Before you can begin your driving journey, keep in mind the following pre-requisites:

  • The minimum legal age for driving a car on public roads as per UK laws is 17.
  • You can begin driving at the age of 16 if you have applied for or received the mobility allowance of Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
  • You need to have a Provisional Driving License before learning to drive. You can apply for this when you are roughly 16 years old, or 15 years 9 months to be exact.
  • Unsupervised driving is not allowed unless you have passed your driver’s test.

Everybody learns at a different pace. However, the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) states a minimum average of 47-hours-worth of driving lessons from an instructor to be sufficient for a beginner. Moreover, about 22 hours of additional practice is also recommended by the DVSA.

Countless students have benefited from our driving sessions, bringing our pass rate to an excellent 87% against the national average of 42%. Learning with us, you’re in capable hands.

The prices of courses vary at Mway Driving School. However, there is a fixed deposit of £20 for lessons, and a Practical Test Car Hire deposit of £50. Consider the deposit as a commitment from the instructor and student that the lessons will happen accordingly.

This deposit will be included in the payment of the last lesson, the earlier lessons of which will require payment in full.

We treat cancellations in standard lessons in 3 ways:

  1. Cancellation of lessons before 48 hours is allowed and leads to no loss of money.
  2. If you cancel within 48 hours, half of the deposit value is kept.
  3. For cancellations within 24 hours, the entire deposit is kept by the company.

The non-refundable nature of deposits in these cases is because the slot is booked in your name and remains non-transferable, especially for urgent cancellations.

The deposit amount for intensive courses is divided into two components:

  1. Driving test cost: £62
  2. Third-party charges for booking an early test date: £100

This brings the total deposit to £162, which will not be lost in case of cancellations unless we have already made the bookings.
